The band "Ljute bebe" (Angry Babies) whit its production,
represents independent electro-rock sound which presents "one-take"
atmosphere of recording. Experienced studio-musicians recorded songs
on this album which don't remind directly at any living band.
In desire to define influences on their work, we came to amazing comparisons
(between Beck and Atomsko skloni?te, Frank Zappa, EKV and Moby, Idoli
and Arcade fire, Ivo Robiæ. Yes, Ivo Robiæ crossed our minds too!)
We don't know if
this is good or not from the commercial aspect, although we doubt
that the commercial success was the guiding thought for the authors.
Anyway, unusual
band whit its own sound. The album was recorded literally at first
, without glamurous post-production.
With unusual,
but very melodious music, attention must be definitely paid to the
lyrics which promise refreshment on Croatian and neighbouring music
scene. Critic of the society and intimate confessions of author, mixed
with irony and wit; in other words we don't remember when was the
last time when one band had so much to say.
In the sense of
arrangement, band decided to join violins and slide guitars, mandolin
and techno-bass loops, acoustic guitar and chamber (strings) orchestra,
maybe subconscious connection of all confused styles which are being
offered on todays world top charts. They made an effort, for example,
in that their guitars don't sound like the other 200 milion guitar
players who play similarly, without exception.
Connection of
acoustic guitar and chamber orchestra is a hit, where a double-basses
and cellos repleace the classical form of the band's rhythm-section.
We agreed that their arrangement solutions are a game and a parody
on today's scene in the region.
According to our opinion, it will be very hard to decide on the potential
hit singles, because there is at least eight great songs, all completely
different and specific, melodious and memorable, or as authors themselves
say in one of their songs : "...and I suffer, and I'm merry and
don't think, and I worry..."
The nucleus of the band are Ðoni ?tambuk and Ivo Mikuliæ with their
friends. Working in the studio, producing music for movies and animated
films, connecton with movie and animaton directors will be a way for
the marketing promotion of their work. Recording of three videos is
in preparation, out of which one will be art animation.Material
in agreement, without creative failures, "contagious" melodies
and
interesting lyrics will find it's audience, that's for sure!
